So, what are the strategies being implemented? And, what are the people in Los Cabos doing stay safe and make good use of their time during the pandemic? Let’s find out.

At Cabo San Lucas airport, since the pandemic threat started, screening procedures were implemented, including containment measures for travelers with symptoms of the virus, such as high temperatures. There are currently 40 flights to Los Cabos from the U.S. and Canada. Passengers that arrive are required to fill out a questionnaire, which, among other things, asks them to let us know where they have traveled in the past 14 days.

The State of Baja California Sur and its Ministry of Health have implemented a protocol with hotels and the timeshare association, business chamber of commerce, and destination management companies in order to assess and report potential cases or other risks.

Besides, at restaurants and hotels have put in place cleaning protocols. For example, restaurants are limiting the number of guests and are putting more distance between tables.

One hotel spokesman has said that although visitors’ numbers have dropped dramatically in the aftermath of the government’s restrictions on non-essential travel across the U.S.-Mexican border, there has been a commitment from the tourism sector to remain open. The biggest reason for this is that practically the entire population of Los Cabos is reliant on the tourism sector. Therefore, our destination is committed to keeping people employed; “our most important asset is our people,” the spokesman said.

Why are we so proactive about this? Because travelers in smaller numbers are, in fact, still traveling to Los Cabos and taking advantage of Cabo transfers. This is true also since we have a different dynamic than other cities and destinations. Many of our American travelers’ own homes in the Cabo San Lucas area or choose to stay in hotels during the lockdown. Some arrive on commercial or private planes and stay in hotels.

The local tourism board has put together a team of experts who are able to communicate the latest information on the pandemic and how to stay protected in Los Cabos. At Airport Baja Transfers and its private transportation Cabo San Lucas, we can provide you this information.
