What should I know about Mexican Customs?

- Fireworks and explosives. Any flammable materials and substances like the ones made from explosive materials are not allowed into Mexico because they are considered hazardous. They are also prohibited to take in any flight, whether on a checked-in suitcase or carry-ons.
- Some forms of tobacco like Cuban cigars are not allowed to bring into Mexico
- Any product or medicine with or without prescription containing cannabis (marijuana) is not permitted by the Mexican laws.

- Articles and clothing like knives or boots made from endangered species such as sea turtles, crocodiles, elephants or corals are forbidden.
- USD 10,000 or more in cash is not allowed. If are bringing such a sum of money in cash, you should declare it at customs upon arrival.
What’s included in the Duty-Free?
The Mexican Laws allow for an allowance in taxes to foreign tourists who bring in or import merchandise to Mexico in addition to what they bring in their baggage. Such merchandise can be for up to USD 300 or $500 during certain holiday seasons such as Christmas and New Year’s.
